This is a little embarrassing, I suppose (being that I haven’t posted here in ages), but today marks the one-year anniversary White Ice and I created this blog, so I decided to write this message. Actually, I’m a day late, but I hope you can forgive me. I don’t know how many people are actually going to read this, but I feel I need to write it anyway.
June 21, 2016: I had met a girl who’d eventually become my best friend in this community, White Ice, along with two others called Red Thunder & Zany Panda on the Poptropica Help Chat after a summer kick-off party. It only took a few minutes of conversing about various topics that night until I came up with the idea to start a news-oriented Poptropica blog. Being the awesome people these three are, they agreed to help with it.
We kept up with things pretty well. We were posting almost daily; posting every news topic possible, along with original, more creative content as well.
Despite our busy schedule, we enjoyed doing what we were doing and we now had a responsibility to the Poptropica community. As the weeks went by, the more readers we got, and the bigger our drive was to keep this blog alive.
Things were going perfectly until one fateful day – August 22, 2016… I’ll never forget that day. This was the day our blog, with the click of a button, was completely deleted.
I was devastated, to say the least. So devastated and discouraged, that my motivation to maintain a blog dwindled almost all the way down to non-existence. Some think it was a glitch, some think it was a hack, but of course – I have my own suspicions that I prefer not to go into. Unfortunately, I had let this event get the best of me and I had mourned over it for a week straight. I tried my best not to show it, but I was very upset behind my computer screen. We made another blog (the one you’re on now) under a similar URL, but as you can tell, it isn’t really the same.
On August 28, 2016, things took a turn for the better. I was invited to the PHB, which honestly, I’m still confused about to this day. Being the inexperienced writer I was and someone who’d joined the community only two months prior, I have NO idea what Fishy saw in me. 😛
Over time, I became more occupied with the PHB and paid less attention to the POP Blog. I had basically abandoned the team. I’m not blaming the PHB whatsoever; The only one at fault here is me. I had drifted so far away from the people I had once spent every day talking to, and I really regret it. Thankfully, White Ice and I are still close, but as for the rest of the team… not so much anymore. I’m really truly sorry for all of the people I have distanced myself with over the past year. I just wasn’t myself for a while.
I want everyone to know that I haven’t forgotten about this blog and that it still means a ton to me. This place will always have a special place in my heart and without this blog, I wouldn’t be where I am today. ❤ This isn’t to say I’ll be posting regularly again; I’m a much busier person now. However, I’m going to try to find some time to generally improve the blog for a better popping experience.
My closing statement — Yes, this blog has been inactive, yes our team has lost its chemistry, yes our viewership has decreased dramatically, and though the road ahead is unknown, I know that with effort and determination, this blog will thrive again as it once did before. POP on…
