Calling More Poptropi-artists…

Heya guys, Friendly Foot here and I’ll be talking about a new post on the Creators blog…

I bet you can tell from my AMAZING (horrible) title, that more artists for the Poptropica Costume Contest should enter! If you’re feeling too lazy to go to Poptropica, then you can take a quick look here. (It was all copy-pasted.)
The Poptropica Creators are SO IMPRESSED with the number and quality of #MyPoptropicaCostume entries. Seriously, everyone. You are amazingly creative!

We’re so impressed, in fact, that there is NO WAY we can choose one grand prize winner. So we won’t. We’ll choose two winners! Each winner will get a 6-month Poptropica subscription, have their costume created by Poptropica and sold in the Poptropica Store, and see their costume worn by a Poptropican on the Home Island!

But wait, there’s more!

We’re also going to have ten runners-up that YOU vote on! The Poptropica Creators will pick 20 costumes for you to vote on in January, here on the blog. The top ten with the most votes will get a 3-month Poptropica subscription and get their costume created and sold in the Poptropica Store later in 2017!

So if you haven’t entered yet, get creating: The deadline is Saturday, December 31, at midnight ET. Find the contest details here and the official rules here.

Best of luck to you all!

So… are there any more Poptropicans out there who think they can win?! Whoever you are, you’ll have a GREATER chance at being featured, even if you aren’t one of the top 2! Anyways, I can’t wait to see what’s in store for us, there are SO many entries, and they all look amazing!! (Crossing my fingers for a kpop costume to come up on the Creators Bpopheade26122016log…)

Also, does anyone remember the previous post on the Creators Blog that Skinny Moon and Captain Crawfish posted 5 days ago? Maybe this is the big news, although it isn’t very big.. XD But of course, a full week would be 7 days and the post had said next week… But anyways, before I get off topic let me end off with a sentence that took me YEARS to think up off! (Actually a few minutes but…) If you haven’t submitted a design for the Poptropica Costume Contest, DO IT NOW!! Who knows, you can become a famous Poptropican!! Well, that’s it for me!

A Winter Wonderland in Poptropica!

Hai Poptropicans! Some of you might have seen the new blog post on the Creator’s Blog… And you’ve probably noticed that Home Island has become a, well, WINTER WONDERLAND!! There is also a picture both in the Creator’s post, and on the home page of Poptropica…

I wonder what this could mean…? Maybe the Creators are giving us a sneak peek of the New Pop, or it could just be me being weird. 😀 But if it is from the New Pop, what do you think about it? Do you like how the poptropicans look? Do you like the style? Say what you think in the comments! Anyways that’s it for me…

Islands of the Month: December begins!

Waddup everyone! December has come, so you know what that means-new Islands of the month! Let’s get started.

This month’s islands are Wimpy Wonderland, and PoptropiCon.

Wimpy Wonderland

The kids in town are enjoying a snow day – all except for Greg Heffley, whose little brother Manny has gone missing! It’s up to you to find Manny, but before you do, you’ll have to contend with surly teenagers, crabby senior citizens, and those rotten Whirley Street kids. Join Greg, Rowley, Rodrick, and the rest of the Wimpy Kid characters for a snow-capped adventure you’ll never forget!

The Creators have gone with a winter theme…DECEMBER! It’s also been opened for everyone, so non-members, get ready to play!

Everyone is dressed up for the biggest sci-fi and fantasy convention in Poptropica. At PoptropiCon, the most important thing isn’t what you do — it’s how you look doing it!

[Episode 1: Line Forms Here] PoptropiCon is the hottest ticket in town. It’ll take all your wits — and more than a few disguises — to crash the party!

[Episode 2: Spoiler Alert] The winner of the PoptropiCon costume contest will earn a one-of-a-kind prize. See if you can put together the ultimate villain outfit, but beware — the action at this convention is about to get real!

[Episode 3: Reign of Omegon] Omegon has taken over PoptropiCon, and he won’t stop until he’s transformed everyone into a hench-bot. Only you can acquire the powers of the Mighty Action Force to battle Omegon and free the convention goers. Join the resistance today!

SUI random choice for an IotM, but is a really good island amazing in episode 3. If it’s your first time playing all three episodes, you’ll get 500 credits per episode, giving you 1,500 credits total! If you replay all three episodes, you’ll get 300 credits per episode, giving you 900 credits! Smaller, but a good amount!

Skinny Moon also left the island trailers if some are not familiar with them.

Now excuse me while I attempt completing Wimpy Wonderland for the first time and replay PoptropiCon because I MUST HAZ LE CREDITZ!!!

Behind The Scenes Of… Poptropolis Games!

Hi guys! Friendly Foot here, and I’m here to update you and some cool news posted on the Poptropica Creators Blog!

Skinny Moon shows us awesome drawings Poptropolis Games when the Creators were starting to, well, create it. Here a few of the sketches…

Pretty detailed, don’t you think? Plus, Skinny Moon tells us about something called a style guide that all the Creators need to follow to develop the island. This is the one for Poptropolis Games, one of the IOTM…

Remember, you only have today and tomorrow to finish it to wins extra credits! See ya!

Poptropica Art Contest? Poptropica Art Contest.

Hey guys! Icey again, announcing another piece of news, except this time it’s much more interesting!

As you probably guessed from the title, yes, Poptropica is holding yet again another Poptropica art contest, except this one is very different from the unlimited contest they held back in summer.

This one is designing a poptropican style costume for the Poptropica Store. If you win, it will actually end up in the Poptropica Store! Kind of reminds me of the user-inspired-items that fantage has every once in a while.

  1. You can submit up to 3 entries, each can include a male/female version or maybe a different colour/slight style variation for the entry. (Click here for a costume template)
  2. You can draw your designs by the traditional way, by hand, or by computer (perhaps a drawing tablet).
  3. You have up to 31st December, 2016 to submit your costume designs.
  4. You can only use Twitter, Facebook and Instagram to submit your entries. For Twitter and Instagram, use the hashtag #MyPoptropicaCostume (Twitter) (Instagram)And for Facebook, simply post your picture here. For those who do nnot have social media accounts, simply ask you parents to post for you or ask a fellow Poptropican on Discord to do that.
  5. Remember to include your Poptropican name and (not required) age to your picture/post!

To see the original post by Skinny Moon on the Poptropica blog, click here.

Hopefully I will make an entry soon, but seeing all those amazing entries on discord, I probably don’t stand a chance 😥 What about you guys? Will you enter as well? 🙂 Leave your replies below!

Until next time,

The Ad that Paid Poptropica a Lot Extra

Hey guys! We’re back from our long hiatus! Have you noticed the fab new header, background, theme, favicon, and some new members to the team?! Well, I sure have! (is it bad that I’m highkey proud of that header that I just finished making?) I’ll let the new authors have their intro posts later.

Anyway, it’s time for another Poptropica Ad! This time a lot different, as Home Island got a full makeover too. Seems that Disney paid Poptropica a lot more than usual for this particular ad. I guess they’re trying to make Moana as big a hit as Frozen was? Maybe this tactic will work, maybe it won’t.

Get it? Get it? The first letter of my real name is M! (bad joke, I know)

Anyway, back to Moana, will be in theaters on 23rd November (for the US anyway),the first Polynesian princess Disney has gotten. The Home Island makeover for it is quite stylish, although not my type of thing. Perhaps this is why Poptropica decided to make a ‘beach’ theme, even though it’s the middle of autumn for those who live in the Northern Hemisphere. (Poptropica logic, amiright?)

And finally, the actual ad entrance:

Courtesy of former POP author, Lucky Joker (later photos as well)

Inside, the first game is basically another dodging game, where you are on a raft and have to avoid obstacles such as rocks, seaweed, and whirlpools. You have five lives, as represented by the sailboats at the top of your screen, and you’ll have to complete the entire game without losing all your five lives, or you won’t get the game prizes. Not such a hard task, eh?

Anyway, here are the game prizes:

Water Power (which you see Moana use in the trailer) and a Hei Hei Hat.

There still is another game; A timed search, (another overused ad game) where you have to find all the missing parts to Moana’s canoe in 2 mintues. You only need to find 4 parts. (For 2 minutes???)

The prizes are a Pua Follower, and Water Burst.

And that concludes another very boring ad, but hopefully not-as-boring movie! At least we got a slight change in the ad, a whole makeover.

Are you looking forward to Moana? Do you think it will be a better movie than Frozen? (Well, I don’t go to the cinema for animation moves anymore, but that doesn’t mean it’s not worth it…)

Until next time,

#PoptropicaArt Winners & Halloween!

Hey, Poptropicans!

Today, two very important posts were published on the Creator’s Blog. Firstly, the long-awaited 2016 #PoptropicaArt contest winners were announced. (You heard me,2016!) If you haven’t seen the finalists, here’s round 1, round 2, round 3round 4, round 5 and 6.

In addition to first, second, and third place, eight honourable mentions were chosen.

  • First place gets a six-month Poptropica membership and a bunch of Poptropica swag
  • Second place gets a three-month Poptropica membership and a bunch of Poptropica swag
  • Third place gets a one-month Poptropica membership and a bunch of Poptropica swag
  • And our honorable mentions all get a one-month Poptropica membership

I wonder what this “Poptropica swag” is? Probably nothing… 🤔 Without further ado, here are the winners!😀

In first place, with her astounding Astro-Knights themed collage is…

…Maryann P.! Congratulations! I hope you enjoy your 6 months of membership.🙂 Here’s what the Creators had to say about her artwork:

“Poptropica is about storytelling. I like that this image tells a story. Plus, the artist did a great job rendering Binary Bard’s universe. It is very rich in detail and perspective, which really stood out to me.”

“Maryann P.’s uses great colors and mood in a nice storytelling format.”

“I like the scale and level of detail!”

In second place, with her detailed drawing of the four main villains is…

…Crafty Poptropican! Wow! I bet it took her a very long time to draw that. Enjoy your three months of membership. Here’s what the Creators had to say about her artwork:

“The appealing, fun colors and character attitudes of Crafty Poptropican’s piece really knock it out of the park.”

“This artist captured 4 of my favorite villains in a fun and creative way. Their use of color and imagery reminded me of the dreams on Super Villain Island.”

“I could see this hanging on a wall.”

Last but not least, in third place, with her PoptropiCon drawing is…

…Slanted Fish! Enjoy your one month of membership and Poptropica swag! Here’s what the Creators had to say about her artwork:

“I love the action in this image! I also really like how the artist placed some of the avatars outside of the frame. When I look at this I feel like Omegon is just ready to emerge out of the background.”

“Slanted Fish did a great job pushing the action poses and staging the characters in a way that it feels like an epic battle.”

“What an action-packed image! Love the details and colors.”

Congratulations to @yuneiko_, @yazz._.minne, Tiger35767, @smileyfaceorg, Me,@julia_henry_la, Creepy Goose, and Brave Tomato for getting honourable mentions. Although you may not get Poptropica swag, you’ll still get one month of Poptropica membership!

Don’t be upset if you didn’t win – there’s always next year.😉

In other news, Halloween has hit Poptropica, which means there have been some major updates to the store and Home Island!

First of all, the Halloween Photo Booth is up and running. Just look for the witch to start creating your spooky masterpiece.

Being the creative guy I am, I decided to join the fun – I call this one “A Love That Cannot Be“. Don’t judge, my photography skills aren’t that great.😛

Speaking of which, there’s going to be another photo booth contest starting next week. The Creators will randomly pick players’ photos, and award the winners one-month memberships throughout October – they’ll also feature some of their favourite submissions on their social media!

The characters on Home Island have also had a bit of a makeover, as well as some new dialogue!

Eek. DJ Saturday Nite really needs to go lighter, or at least dye her hair back to her natural shade, otherwise, I’ll start mistaking her for Tall Cactus.

Finally, there are some scary new items and costumes in the store. It seems like we’ll be getting some new items next week. Hopefully, they’re better than the Fall Fashion outfits.

What an exciting day! And if that wasn’t enough, Skinny Moon visited the PHC a few hours ago. Until next time…
