Long live the POP Blog

Hello, everyone… It’s Lucky Joker here…

made by UiPE

This is a little embarrassing, I suppose (being that I haven’t posted here in ages), but today marks the one-year anniversary White Ice and I created this blog, so I decided to write this message. Actually, I’m a day late, but I hope you can forgive me. I don’t know how many people are actually going to read this, but I feel I need to write it anyway.

June 21, 2016: I had met a girl who’d eventually become my best friend in this community, White Ice, along with two others called Red Thunder & Zany Panda on the Poptropica Help Chat after a summer kick-off party. It only took a few minutes of conversing about various topics that night until I came up with the idea to start a news-oriented Poptropica blog. Being the awesome people these three are, they agreed to help with it.

We kept up with things pretty well. We were posting almost daily; posting every news topic possible, along with original, more creative content as well.

Despite our busy schedule, we enjoyed doing what we were doing and we now had a responsibility to the Poptropica community. As the weeks went by, the more readers we got, and the bigger our drive was to keep this blog alive.

Things were going perfectly until one fateful day – August 22, 2016… I’ll never forget that day. This was the day our blog, with the click of a button, was completely deleted.

I was devastated, to say the least. So devastated and discouraged, that my motivation to maintain a blog dwindled almost all the way down to non-existence. Some think it was a glitch, some think it was a hack, but of course – I have my own suspicions that I prefer not to go into. Unfortunately, I had let this event get the best of me and I had mourned over it for a week straight. I tried my best not to show it, but I was very upset behind my computer screen. We made another blog (the one you’re on now) under a similar URL, but as you can tell, it isn’t really the same.

On August 28, 2016, things took a turn for the better. I was invited to the PHB, which honestly, I’m still confused about to this day. Being the inexperienced writer I was and someone who’d joined the community only two months prior, I have NO idea what Fishy saw in me. 😛

Over time, I became more occupied with the PHB and paid less attention to the POP Blog. I had basically abandoned the team. I’m not blaming the PHB whatsoever; The only one at fault here is me. I had drifted so far away from the people I had once spent every day talking to, and I really regret it. Thankfully, White Ice and I are still close, but as for the rest of the team… not so much anymore. I’m really truly sorry for all of the people I have distanced myself with over the past year. I just wasn’t myself for a while.

I want everyone to know that I haven’t forgotten about this blog and that it still means a ton to me. This place will always have a special place in my heart and without this blog, I wouldn’t be where I am today. ❤ This isn’t to say I’ll be posting regularly again; I’m a much busier person now. However, I’m going to try to find some time to generally improve the blog for a better popping experience.

My closing statement — Yes, this blog has been inactive, yes our team has lost its chemistry, yes our viewership has decreased dramatically, and though the road ahead is unknown, I know that with effort and determination, this blog will thrive again as it once did before. POP on…

Topping Tuesday: Top 5 Poptropica Villains

Top 5 Poptropica Villains (Opinion Based)

Hello, everyone! Lucky Joker here giving my opinion with another Topping Tuesday post! This post contains spoilers, read at your own discretion. Of course, solely opinion based, I’ll be listing five of Poptropica’s best villains. I’ll try to provide reasoning to explain my choices. Anyway- Let’s POP right into it, shall we?!

5: Black Widowpoptropica-black-widow

Being known as one of Poptropica’s most infamous villains, she had to be on the list. For one, the design is great. Her awesome jumpsuit and wild hair both make a great look for a villain. If you don’t already know, she is most known for her role in Counterfeit Island, being the villain. Initially, you meet her in disguise, only to discover the bad side of this character. She’s an art thief who throws multiple tantrums during the game, and even resorts at attempting to destroy art pieces in hopes of not getting captured. In addition to all of that, she gives your Poptropican player a major beat down.

pop myron.png4: Myron Van Buren

Myron Van Buren is an obsessive hunter, who spies on you throughout the episodes of Survival Island. Once you meet, things get a little suspicious. He attempts to hold your player hostage, but you find a way to escape. Eventually, you’re the quarry! What an evil guy with an awesome catchphrase. Tally Ho!

3: Mademoiselle Moreaupop-moreau

A lesson to be learned here- Looks are deceiving. This young French woman is very clever but in the worst way possible. Her ultimate plan is to destroy the Ferris Wheel at Chicago World’s Fair, to ensure the amazement of the Paris World Fair. She’s the main villain of Mystery Train Island- putting your character through lots of loops in trying to find the thief of Edison’s Motion Capture Device. She frames Tesla and even has him arrested. At one point in the Island, she even tries to have your Poptropican arrested. She manipulates everyone around her to get what she wants- To lead everyone in the wrong direction, so that she isn’t caught in her dirty deeds.

2: Binary Bardpoptropica binary bard.png

(Formerly/AKA Mordred) Binary Bard was the main antagonist of Astro-Knights Island.
Background Information: He was thrown in jail by the King and Queen for studying in technology and dark science. He escaped and further studied. He (possibly) transformed himself into a cyborg later on.

In the story of Astro-Knights Island, He kidnapped the princess of Arturus, Elyana, and shot five dangerous types of spacecraft down toward the kingdom. He flies out to space and plans to become the king of the universe! In attempts to save the princess and to stop his treacherous plan, your Poptropican goes out after him. He plays multiple tricks on you, putting you through many dilemmas, only making it harder to complete your mission. His amazing costume and name were worth mentioning, as well. 😛 He just has the whole wide world in his hands, doesn’t he?

1: Zeus

Not only does he serve as the main villain in one Poptropica Island, but in two(Being Super Villain and Mythology)! It may be because I’m really into Greek Mythology, but that’s beside the point. In Mythology Island, he has you go through a quest to find the five sacred items: Scale, Pearl, Rose, Whisker, and a minotaur’s ring. Once you do, he takes them for himself and plans to become the ruler of all of Poptropica, like being the ruler of the Olympians wasn’t enough right? He also puts you through a tough battle in the end scene.Poptropica Zeus.png

In Super Villain, he disguises as Dr. Jupiter, which I find clever. Jupiter is the Roman name of Zeus- There’s your fun fact of the day. He has Poptropica’s most infamous villains: Black Widow, Dr. Hare, Binary Bard and Captain Crawfish all under quarantine in hopes of removing their evil totems.  Of course, if you’ve played the island, you’d know he was only trying to obtain the totems to strengthen his power and better his chances in trying to take over all of Poptropica. Again, he puts you through a tough battle in the end. Plus, anyone with the possession of four Poptropica villains all at once is definitely deserving of the title “Poptropica’s Baddest Villain”.

Well, that’s it for now. Have a different opinion? Share yours in the comment section below. Hope you enjoyed, and see you next time!

Fashion Friday Week 7

Hello everyone! Lucky Joker here– bringing you more costumes for you to try!

Back to School:

Most of us will be going to school soon, and some of you have already started! With that said, this week’s Fashion Friday theme is Back to School. The POP team and I have created costumes, representing high school stereotypes. Please don’t take this into offense, as we were just having good fun.:)

White Ice – The popular girlValley or Popular girl White Ice

Head: This fabulous hairdo is costumizable from Flashy Florian Fosbury from Escape from Pelican Rock Island. You’ll have to get through some of the island to do so. You can find a full walkthrough on the PHB. The bangs, however, are from the Spy lady in B.A.D. Bistro, on Spy Island.

Face: The lips can be ASGed off of “iPop#5”.

Body: The jacket can be found from the ASG “gpopsinger101”, if you don’t have the store card for it. For the top, use the ASG “scheherazadetoldathousandtales”. For the skirt, costumize off of the cheerleader costume in the store.

Hand: The lipstick can also ASGed from “iPop#5”.

Lucky Joker – Nerd

Head: The hair can be found on the hotel manager, on Reality TV Island.

Face: The glasses can be costumized from Zany Panda. Her UN: unitatogirl.
The braces can be costumized off of any random Poptropican, in a common room. I will admit that they’re a little hard to come by. (For me at least)

Body: The shirt can also be found on the hotel manager on Reality TV Island. The bow tie can be found on the “April Fool’s Day” Store card. The backpack can be found off of the Poptropica: The Official Guide card.

Dangerous Eye – The surfer girl

Head: The hair can be be found in New You, on Home Island.

Face: The cool shades can be obtained from “Mythology Surfer”. The lipstick can be ASGed from “iPop#5”.

Body: The shirt can also be found in New You. As well as the black pants.

Hand: The surfboard can be found from the Mythology Surer, in the store.

Shaky Skunk – PrepShaky Prep

Head: The hair can be seen on the Vampire Girl 2 Store Card. The bangs with earrings can be be obtained from the Pop Star store card.

Face: The blush comes with the earrings, and as for the lips– You can find them on the angel costume.

Body:  The top can be found on the Mythology Surfer (Purple). The skirt can be fond from the Gothic cheerleader costume.

Red Thunder – Gamer GuyRed Thunder gamer.png

Head: The hair and headphones can be seen in the New You.

Face: The sunglasses can be costumized from the Gamer store card. Any frown works. The one shown in the picture is from the Wild West Big headed boy.

Body: The shirt, hoodie and jacket are all from Gamer Guy on Zomberry Island. You may need to do some of the Island. However, I’m not completely sure. The fanny pack can be costumized off of the explorer on Home Island. The black pants can be found off of any random Poptropican.

Hand: The flashlight can be found on Zomberry Island.

Shaky Skunk – Emo Shaky Emo confirmed

Head: The pony tail can be found on the girl standing near the “Ye Old Poptropica Store” on Astro Knights island. The bangs can be found on the Rockstar 2 store card.

Face: The dark bags under the eye are on the “Gothic cheerleader”- The store card. Any frown works for this look.

Body: The top can be found in New You, and the pants can be found on “Vampire Girl 2”.

Well, that’s it for now! I hope you liked the costumes, and try them out. Have fun, and good luck at school everyone! POP on!

Island Walkthrough: Big Nate

Hello everyone. I’m Lucky Joker and today I will walk you through yet another sponsored island. This time around, I will show you how to complete Poptropica’s eighth island, Big Nate Island! Let’s get into it!

The Story:

Everyone in town is looking for a time capsule that was hidden a century ago, and we’re going to find it, in order to save the school. On second thought, let’s not save the school! Haha! Just kidding. We have to, in order to get the medallion.

Comical Findings:

As soon as you land on this colourful island, you will be bombarded by a young boy we all know as, Big Nate– the kid who is known for getting the most detentions in school. You can click through all of the speech bubbles, but to save time, I recommend just clicking the last one. We are going to need to find eight pieces of a comic and put them together, once found.

The first piece is on the green couch, at the top level, in the Pop-In Shoppe.
The second is in the “Say Cheese” photo studio. Jump up, when you enter, to see it.
The third is on top of the telephone pole, just above the photo studio.
The next piece is found in the school’s hallway.
Obtain the fifth piece is in the top left corner of the Science Lab.
The sixth is on the right side, outside of the school.
The seventh piece is found near the top left of the playground. Get it by jumping to it.
The last one is on the very top of the Lighthouse on the beach.

Now that we’ve found all of the pieces to the comic, head into the Pop-In Shoppe, and talk to Gordie. Examine your comic and put it in this order. ▼

Walkthrough Wednesday Big Nate.png

An awesome comic will be shown, but you’ll notice a locker combo– which we’re going to need. For completing this feat, Gordie will giving you some chewing gum.

School Nettlesome:

Run to the school and assemble the comic once more. Then click on the messy locker in the hallway, and enter the combination. Whoosh! We go flying out!

Walkthrough Wednesday Big Nate.png

Now that that happened, walk over to the left and click on the pile. You’ll find a blueprint; only to see, what appears to be, a secret entrance to a secret room, in the detention hall! We need to get in there some how. But before that, walk into the Science Lab. We need to make a Stink Bomb using the chemical set. Pretty cool right? Click the kit and get started. To get the perfect formula, you’ll need to pour in some certain amounts of the chemicals into the beaker.

Walkthrough Wednesday Big Nate

Walkthrough Wednesday Big Nate

After you fill up the beaker with the contents needed, set the heat and… Voila! A stink bomb! Now head to the hallway near the detention room and use your gum to chew. Mrs. Godfrey will pop out of the door, literally, and demand you into the room. When you’re in, use your stink bomb to get her out. Being alone in the room now, you can enter the secret room, through the filing cabinet. What in the world is the purpose of this room, and why do you have to enter from a cabinet?! You’d think this school would have at least one classroom! Anyway, turn on the power switch and get the bell clapper hanging from the ceiling. Now, exit the school and go to Puffin Point.

Scuba Diver:

Jump to the top of the lighthouse, and look through the telescope. Move it to the right, Walkthrough Wednesday Big Nateuntil your Poptropican notices a piece of paper. Then go ahead and close. Jump down to the left, off of the lighthouse, and snatch the flying piece of paper on your way down. You have just obtained the Old Photograph. Now, go and give it to the “school picture guy” in the photo studio.  In return, you will receive some Scuba Gear. Pretty descent trade, if you ask me.

Child’s Play:

Head to the right, pass the school and onto the next screen. Make your way up the jungle gym, and yes, Nate will follow you. Congratulations! You have a stalker. Anyway, enter the Kids Only clubhouse at the top of the play structure. Now, click on any of the games inside, which include: Go To Jail (aka Hangman) and Table Football. They’re both pretty self explanatory. So, have fun! For winning Go To Jail, you will earn Peanut Butter Crackers, and for winning Table Football, you will receive a Practical Jokes booklet, illustrated by Nate himself. Playing Table Football isn’t mandatory, as the prize we win isn’t vital to complete the island. All for good fun!

Now that we’ve had our fun, run to Puffin Point.

Aqua Adventures:Walkthrough Wednesday Big Nate.png

Put on your aqua gear, and get to ready to dive in the waters!

*You might want to read this before diving because you can run out of oxygen whileWalkthrough Wednesday Big Natetrying to read and play simultaneously.

Dive in, and swim all the way to the right. Then swim down and grab the lobster trap. You can swim to the surface going back the way you came; or you can let your oxygen run out and surface automatically. Either way works!

Talk to the man standing there, and hand him the trap. He’ll give you the lobster inside and the keys to his jet ski. Nice! With that done, it’sWalkthrough Wednesday Big Nate time to ride the jet ski! We still need to get that paper we saw through the telescope earlier. Remember? Click the jet ski to start riding, but, woah! Nate comes running and wants to race! It’s on! The goal is to beat Nate to the end of the way, and to jump over objects like TV’s, penguins etc. You also have to avoid falling eggs. To jump, just click your mouse.

The easiest way, I found to beat him, is to go all of the way to the right of the screen, and count “123 jump!”. When you say “jump”, you click. To get the paper, push both seals to the left of the balanced rock, to expose it. Then just click it, and you have it. It’s a map to the capsule everybody’s been looking for! Now go back left to Puffin Point

Saving the day!

To clear the playground of children, we’ll need to ring the bell. Jump on top of the lighthouse, and use your lobster to crank the light– to face the other direction. The light will shine at the bird, forcing it to fly away. Now tinging the bell is possible, where it wasn’t before. Go on top of the school and use your bell clapper to ring it. The kids will go in fro their recess, and clear the way. Now, go to the playground. Place your Peanut Butter Crackers at about the spot that is shown below. The dog will feast, and dig up the capsule! Drag it out and open it. Nate will get the credit, but you’ll get the Island Medallion!

That was a pretty easy, yet fun island. It’s not very time consuming, and it’s just very entertaining. Hope you found this helpful. If not, let me know in the comments on things you’re having trouble with. POP on!
